Cultural Commissioning Steering Group: Open Meeting

19th September, 6-8PM, Council Chamber, Reading Borough Council Civic Offices

This is an open meeting for community members to come along, learn more about Reading, Place of Culture, and how you can be involved as a steering group member.

The Steering group:

We are looking for an advisory group for the Reading, Place of Culture ‘Cultural Commissioning Programme’. Community members will advise us on priorities and investments and will champion arts, culture and heritage for Reading residents.

We want to have different communities and interests represented in our steering group, so don’t worry if you think you don’t have enough experience! We want to hear your views. This is for anyone with an interest in arts, culture and heritage, who wants to gain more experience within the sector or who wants to represent their community in decision making processes.

At the end of the open meeting, you will have the opportunity to complete a short application form about why you would like to be involved.

We aim to select 10 members, who will participate in 4 evening meetings per year and will be paid for their time.

We will also offer you arts, culture and heritage trips, networking opportunities, and the chance to see how funding decisions are made.

Background:

Reading, Place of Culture is funded by the Great Place Scheme, which aims to put arts, culture and heritage at the heart of communities.

You can read more about the programme here: http://readingplaceofculture.org/greatplaces/

Through Reading, Place of Culture, the Cultural Commissioning Programme invests in three £15,000 programmes per year. These are programmes with social outcomes (such as better health and wellbeing) achieved through arts, culture and heritage opportunities for communities. As part of the steering group, you can have your say on funding priorities and which programmes get selected.
